We have a brief interview with Sabby & Seven (see below) and a video gallery which features 12 works from their Renderosity store. Our thanks to Sabby & Seven for taking the time to talk with us. :-)

Interview with Sabby & Seven

Renderosity: Tell our readers about your backgrounds: how did you get started in digital art creation? What led you to become vendors at Renderosity?

Sabby: I started 11 years ago in 2008, at the time I was very into an MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games) called Everquest, I started creating art of the characters I played. That progressed into other people commissioning me to make them art, and I was buying a lot of characters to make this art for people. A couple friends of mine on art forums suggested that I start making my own characters and so Sabby-Jadyn was born, she sold so well that I never looked back.

Seven: I began my journey as a Renderosity Vendor 10 years ago. I have always been interested in digital art and stumbled across the Renderosity Galleries while browsing digital art. I was hooked! I purchased Poser and I was off and running. I released my first product at Renderosity on June 26th 2009, a set of backgrounds called Flights of Fancy. I quickly made the switch from backgrounds to character creation and the rest is history. :)

How did you form your partnership? What is your collaborative process like?

Sabby: Our partnership forming was actually kind of funny... another vendor told me that Seven's work looked a lot like mine, she said she had thought I had changed my user name when she saw it uploaded. I checked out Seven's girls and she and I did indeed have a similar style, so I sent her a sitemail on Renderosity and told her that her girls were gorgeous and suggested she charge more for them, because she's worth more than she was giving herself credit for. From there we became friends and and a month later we released our first collaborative project. SASE Jaida, she's still in the store! :)

Our process is probably much like anyone else's, we use dropbox to share our files, we talk on messenger programs, we send proofs back and forth. There isn't so much specific roles that we do, a lot of it is back and forth from one character to the next, something that works really well when your styles are similar. The fantasy makeups, though? That is ALL Seven! lol

Seven: There's really not much that I can add here except that I'm grateful that Sabby reached out to me all those years ago. We have become very close over the years and are so similar in so many ways. It's not only our style of character creation or art, it's also our personalities and likes and dislikes. I believe those are the things that make our partnership successful, that and a mutual respect for each other.

What are your goals when you create something for the marketplace?

Sabby: I'd love to have some really cool and thoughtful response here, but my goals are to make something customers like and are willing to buy! ;) This is my job after all.

Seven: My goal is of course to earn a living and create beautiful characters for our customers, but also to continuing learning and growing as an artist.

Sabby: Um.. Yea, what she said about that growing as an artist stuff! :D

Do you both have some favorite pieces you've created over the years?

Sabby: My favorite collaborative project we did was probably SASE Whimsy, a close second would be one of our G8's SASE Poppy, she's just so cute and spritely!

Seven: I find it difficult to choose just one favorite, but a couple that have always stood out for me are SASE Naisa for V4 and more recently SASE Jocelyn for Genesis 8.

How has Renderosity made a difference in your lives as artists and vendors?

Sabby: Everyone is a family here. It's nice to know the people that I work with on a daily basis and have a nice casual relationship with them. This site has made it possible for me to be a stay at home mom and still support my family. I love what I do for work.

Seven: Being a vendor at Renderosity has given me the freedom and flexibility that I wouldn't have in a traditional 9 to 5 job. It has also lead me to a wonderful friendship that I would otherwise never have had! :)

Any last thoughts you'd like to add?

Sabby: I really wanted to get Vender of the Month, I haven't ever really tried before this month to get it. I told Seven about wanting to get it a couple months ago and we decided to give it a go for her 10th anniversary. Most people wouldn't be willing to work all day every day to help someone else achieve what they wanted to accomplish, she worked tirelessly to help ME, get VOM. She wasn't expecting to get it herself as well. That's why she's a great partner. We worked very hard to get 10 girls out for her 10th anniversary which subsequently lead to the VOM for both of us.

Seven: As you can see from Sabby's answer here, this is the mutual respect that I was referring to. She also worked very hard to help me with my goal of creating 10 characters for my 10th anniversary. We work very well together because we care about each other's feelings and goals. :)
