Autodesk announces Bifrost for Maya. A new visual programming environment in Maya where you can create your own custom effects and share them with other artists.

Maxon announces major reworking of how they will make Cinema 4D available to users. They are moving to a subscription service through their website (don't worry they are keeping the perpetual license as well). In addition they will only release one version of Cinema 4D. Maxon also announced some excellent technical updates to the new Cinema 4D R21 coming in September.

Ton Roosendaal received Open Source award at Jon Peddie press luncheon. Long overdue, Ton was honored for his work build Blender and contributing to the growing use of Open Source tools. He have a marvelous speech which was witty and honest. Congratulations, Ton!
