Tempesta3D

is our April 2020 Artist of the Month. She has been a member of Renderosity since 2008 and has nearly 300 followers. Tempesta3d has a real talent with portraits of characters in a variety of emotional scenes. She has a poets eye for color and framing. It's easy to see why Renderosity members voted for her in large numbers. When she creates a scene you always know that a lot of thought went into its creation. Tempesta3D lives in Venice, Italy, where daily life is pretty rough. We wish here safety and health while she copes with the crises that is gripping the world.

We have a short interview with Tempesta3D where she talks about her life as an artist along with her working methods. See our Tempesta3D video gallery (above) which features 8 selections from her works.

Interview with Tempesta3D

Renderosity: How did you get started creating?

Tempesta3D: I started creating as soon as I realized I had hands :-) From playing with my sweet mom's fabrics to mess around in the kitchen to resin floors and woodworking and painting around the house, stitching, felting, you name it! I think to be rather shy and a bit antisocial and so I tend to express myself in other ways. The 3d World opened a magnificent door to me and has become now the most essential part of my days. But ultimately you must actually blame my better half, he is the one always pushing me to follow all my wildest dreams. One lifetime is not enough for me to thank him for his support and love.

I notice you often choose to place your camera very close to the models; what effect are you trying to create with this technique?

Tempesta3D: I think it is reflecting the way I usually look at the people, I live in Venice, Italy, so I see thousands of beautiful faces daily from all over the planet. I like to sit in silence and carefully observing all those expressions, wondering how their lives are, smiling for each of their smiles, often meeting their look for a moment in which I capture a glimpse of their souls. Here, I think I wish to capture the soul of a character with my art as well, like framing forever an emotion.

How has Renderosity made a difference in your life as an artist?

Tempesta3D: Renderosity has become my extended family for many many years now. I witness the hard work you all do to make things run smoothly, I am inspired constantly by the devotion of people like yourself and my "distant sisters" Andy, Jenn, Rena, the lost but forever alive in my heart Jo. I had the immense honor and privilege to hug in person some of you and every time I enter your web page is more like entering into a magic world made of amazing Artists and friends. Renderosity is always supporting each one of us, encouraging and providing forums where we can exchange ideas and dreams.

Do you have any particular favorites in your gallery?

Tempesta3D: Oh, surely I do: only the pictures where my pets and my baby nephew are present. I never find what I do very pleasant to be honest, but I adore my nephew and my pets more than life itself so yes, anything with them on it.

What is your typical workflow when you work on a new project?

Tempesta3D: Usually I start with an idea in my head: often it's a combination of people I saw who inspired me and some fantasy elements all wrapped together with the emotions I am feeling in that particular period of my life. The features that most impress me are never the "typical beauty", instead I tend to see perfection in the uniqueness and individuality of every human being. I love the signs of time and wrinkles and the eyes who express feelings and transmit them. I try to replicate those feelings but I am always unsatisfied with my results in the end. It is a constant search for something that I may never grasp.

Any last thoughts before we close?

Tempesta3D: These are very difficult times for all of us. I am grateful for this moment that bring joy in a heart covered by sorrow. I only wish for all of you to be safe in your home. This place is the perfect place right now: we can all share our passion for the Arts, our feelings, fears, happiness and yes, hope.

We can fantasize a wonderful world and maybe, with our colored pages, inspire the people for a better future.
