Interview with Wolf359
Renderosity: Tell us about your background. How did you become a digital artist?
Wolf359: Hi I was a Professional Graphic Designer for print for 19 years ,in the washington DC metro market, before transitioning to 3D/CG Character animation 13 years ago It was a natural progression for me.
What does being a member of Renderosity mean to you?
Wolf359: Renderosity was my first 3D character related online community I was a RMP merchant of custom animation products ,for poser, for many years. And their recent Partnership with Reallusion is a very forward looking Strategic move from my perspective as an animated film maker
If you could have dinner with any artist in history who would it be?
Wolf359: I would have Dinner with the great Illustrator,Norman Rockwell
Any last thoughts you'd like to add?
Wolf359: Yes Renderosity has a great opportunity for a "Revival" of sorts with the inclusion of the Reallusion suite of 3D Character products in the RMP.
Particularly Character creator 3 Pipeline application as well as Iclone Pro for those interested in animated Film making.
The Reallusion Character animation products Have empowered me to create My own Feature length animated film working completely alone (Coming in mid 2019)

Tell me more about your film: how did it come about?
Wolf359: Hi, My current project began as an experimental short "Fan film" using poser and Maxon Cinema4D. I was curious to see if it was possible for a single animator to produce all of the animation and VFX &sound for a short 3d animated film using the premaded assests from the Daz & poser content markets I was able to create a decent 13 minute proof of concept in 2014.
After one year of studying and researching various options, I settled on an existing storyline from a series of marvel comics published years before.
I added Reallusion Iclone pro to My tool set and switched to an Iclone to Daz studio pipeline with final renders of the Daz exported content completed in Maxon C4D. I currenty have 61 minutes of completed footage in an Apple final cut pro project file with an extimated 90 minutes total to complete the narrative.
What was the production process like? Were there challenges you didn't expect?
Wolf359: My process is a straight forward, linear CG animation pipeline.
All base character motion is created with realtime Avatars in Iclone pro pipeline and retargeted to a Default Daz Genesis (1,2,3) in Iclone 3Dxchange and exported as BVH for use in Daz studio.
Once the base BVH Data is imported ,to the matching figure in Daz studio, secondary motion is added using GraphMate/KeyMate and any lipsinc and facial animation is applied with mimic live for Daz studio
The completed animation is saved in Daz formated .duf files.
That saved Data is applied to the fully Morphed dressed& textured "Actor" that is exported as an .obj file with MDD animated mesh cache Data to Maxon Cinema4D for final lighting and rendering of each "shot". Visual effects and color grading completed in Adobe After effects CS.
The most challenging tasks, of this particular project, was getting a convincing sense of scale for the many planetary destruction shots in the movie. and generating the distinctly different voices (both male & female) for the many Characters. This was helped greatly by the use of very specialized voice synthesis & voice morphing software .
