Renderosity: How did you get involved in creating digital assets?
BlueTreeStudio: I started modelling things for my own pleasure and creativity, but eventually hooked up with some other creative types who were reconstructing missing episodes of Doctor Who using existing soundtracks, photos, photo compositing and - when I was welcomed into the group - CGI. It was a steep learning curve - they wouldn't accept anything less than 100% accurate, so I think that is really where I learnt to create digital assets. That actually eventually led to commissions to produce material for the BBC classic Doctor Who DVD range and I've now done a few of those, most recently with animations on the reconstruction of Evil of the Daleks which was released a few weeks ago. I was looking for other ways to use this new skill and Renderosity seemed like the perfect home for me. Seven years later and I'm still here doing what I love.
Renderosity: Where do you draw your inspiration from?
BlueTreeStudio: Everywhere! TV, films, walks around my city (my very first set features a ruined theatre that is actually a WWII bombsite just round the corner from me - and my Victorian Railway Station is just down the road from that). My mother saves any interesting photos she comes across in newspapers, magazines and brochures and presents me with a big bag full of clippings when we meet up. A few sets have even been suggested directly to me by folks through Renderosity sitemail, and I'm always grateful for ideas as it means I don't have to come up with them myself!
Renderosity:How has your experience as a vendor been overall?
BlueTreeStudio: It's been fantastic. I love seeing what people do with my sets, the images they create and the stories they weave around them. I also very much appreciate the gratitude of the Poser community that I release my sets for Poser as well as Daz. That won't be changing.
Renderosity:Can you give us a hint of what to expect from you in the near future?
BlueTreeStudio: It will almost certainly be fantasy, horror, science fiction, historical, present day or something else entirely! I don't plan too far ahead, and when I get to building a set I just go with the thing that most inspires me and seems to have the most potential at the time.
