Tell us about yourself. Who is Danny_G?
Danny_G: I was born and raised in New Jersey. I got my start in computing in est 2004-2005 as a draftsmen by trade and quickly picked up Bryce & Mojoworld as an evening hobby. This hobby quickly grew into an obsession after discovering Planetside Software’s Terragen Classic. Despite its limitations in regards to importing objects the realism, it was capable of was unmatched at the time. I was hooked, so much so I eventually became a Terragen Coordinator then moderator here at Rendo. A position I held for many years until the closure o the Terragen forum a few years ago. Currently, I am the owner and artist of New World Digital Art. NWDA is a collective of 3d Environmental artists dedicated to providing cinema quality 3d environments for all types of productions. www.NwdaGroup.com.
What kind of software applications do you use for your creative work and why?
Today you need to be a jack of all trades to stay relevant. Obviously, the real-time movement is something that everyone needs to have in their toolbox, so I do work a bit with Unreal however my go-to tools are 3dmax/Vray with Vue’s integrated Plugin. This gives me everything I need to senselessly integrate into any production pipeline
One of your works that I particularly admire is XX121. It reminds me of the great sci-fi paperback covers of the '60s and '70s. Tell us about how you created this awesome image
This started with experimenting in Vue's Terrain editor which has awesome 3d sculpting capabilities. Once the cave was done I textured it with a reptilian PBR texture. 3dmax for the Alien eggs and I used Poisen’s Badlands Props available here at the Marketplace for the fortress-like structure. Lighting and rendered all within
Who are some of the artists that have influenced your work?
That’s a long list, but I will name a few, Armands (Mojoworld) Hillrunner (Terragen & Mojoworld) Horselips (Terragen) Drea Horvath (Vue) Frank B (Terragen) just to name a few
How has Renderosity made a difference in your growth as an artist?
The interaction in the community was very essential for me. Artists generous enough to share their techniques allow e to n them. Anyone looking to improve in any software never be ashamed to ask questions. There is a wealth of knowledge within these forums. Definitely take advantage of them
