Interview with February 2022 Vendor of the Month - RHIANNON

Feb 21, 2022 at 12:45 pm by gToon

is our Vendor of the Month for February 2022. She is a veteran member of Renderosity having joined in 2000. Rhiannon has over 2,000 followers which, after browsing through her impressive store and gallery, is easy to understand. Her work is carefully crafted and full of feeling. Her female figures are alluring and mysterious and the clothing she creates is perfectly textured.

Rhiannon's gallery is also a treat. She is particularly skilled in creating the faerie world with its lush greens and browns. We love her female warriors, too. Her whole gallery is a marvel of figures and landscapes all done in a unique style that only Rhiannon has.

We congratulate Rhiannon for winning the Vendor of the Month award. She is having a sale in her Renderosity store starting February 24th. Be sure to look for the announcement on the Renderosity front page.

When you joined Renderosity in 2000, did you imagine you’d become such a successful and popular vendor?

Rhiannon: No, not at all. In 2000 I didn’t have it on my radar to become a vendor at all, I was just beginning my journey into digital art. I was still working a 9 to 5 back then, and it was just a hobby and something I did for fun. It started with Bryce, then Bryce led to Poser, and soon I was hooked. It wasn’t until several years later that I decided to try my hand at creating content. Then in 2005 I took a leap of faith and committed to it full-time. And here we are!

How have your 3D skills improved over the years?

I have come such a long way in the last 20 years, and the same can be said for many vendors at Renderosity. I started with Poser and character creation based on V4, then moved on to modeling. Digital art and 3D content development is ever-evolving, expanding, and moving forward at a pretty good clip. It is very exciting and overwhelming at the same time. There are so many different avenues to choose from … modeling, texturing, animation, character creation, the list goes on, and with all of these come a boatload of new challenges and learning opportunities. I think it’s just a natural progression if you are committed to improving your skills and staying up to date on your chosen path. What’s that saying? Evolve or die.
What kind of computer do you use? Is it a custom-built machine?

Yes, it is a custom rig … as a matter of fact, I have recently upgraded my machine, here’s a look at what I have now:

• NVIDIA GeForce RTX 308
• Intel Core i9-12900K - 16 Cores - 3.2GHz (Boosts to 5.2GHz)
• 360mm Liquid Cooling
• MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI DDR4
• 1TB Intel 670p Series M.2 NVMe SSD
• 2TB Intel 660p
• 4TB Seagate Barracuda HDD

How much research do you do on fashion styles for your creations?

Well, I have a large folder, simply called “Ideas” … clever, right? I’m always saving images of fashion and clothing, jewelry, footwear, and fantasy, all of that. I’m always perusing it all and depending on my mood at the time, I might zero in on something. I like to take a particular style and make tweaks here and there to make it unique. More times than not, somewhere between the initial modeling and the finish line, it turns into something very different than when it started.

I really like your work on women’s shoes and boots, what are some of the challenges you face in creating shoes?

For Genesis, it’s always been a bit of a challenge for sure when it comes to high-heeled footwear. But thanks to a lot of amazing folks in the community who share their knowledge and workflows, it can be a lot of fun. And personally, I’m a sucker for boots and high heels.

Last question: what new works can we expect from you in the future.

The only thing I can say for sure is that there will be more. You will always be able to find something new by Rhiannon in the store, I don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.

Also, I would like to tell all my customers how grateful I am to them. Without them, I would surely be in an office somewhere still dreaming about doing what I’m doing right now. I really appreciate you all and thank you so much!

Finally, I’d like to express my gratitude to all those around me who have encouraged me and pushed me forward over the years. You’re the best!!
