Feel the Poser Pulse getting stronger!
Adding Realism with Depth of Field
Depth of Field in Poser enables you to focus on select areas in your image by choosing a focal point. Objects close to this focal point will be sharper while those further away will be out of focus or "blurry".
This week you'll find the Modern Apartment - Kitchen by RPublishing and GrayCloudDesign at 50% off until Wednesday, March 16th 9:59 am (cdt).
Depth of Field is especially useful in large scenes as you can direct the viewer's eye to your subject. It also makes for more powerful portraits by highlighting and emphasizing selected details. For example focusing on the eyes makes the portrait stand out more.

Depth of Field is simple to set up. Both Firefly and Superfly Render Settings have the option to check DoF to apply during your render. The Firefly setting is at the top right while the Superfly setting is at the bottom right.

Back in the Pose Room make sure to select the camera you are using for your render. In the Camera Properties there are two dials that will help you set your desired depth of field. The first is the focus_Distance. By adjusting this you'll see the focal point in your preview window. Position it where you'd like your focus to be - the sharpest area in your image. Objects in front or behind it will not be as sharp. This is determined by the second dial you need to adjust.

After setting your focal point with the focus_Distance slider you need to determine how "blurry" or out of focus you want the rest of the image to be. This is determined by the fStop dial. The lower the number the more out of focus or "blurrier" the result. You can experiment and see what effect is best for your image.
These were the settings for the images above.
