Interview with August 2023 Artist of the Month - Nemesis74s

Aug 15, 2023 at 11:00 am by gToon

Nemesis74s joined Renderosity in 2008 from her home in Italy. She has over 100 followers and is devoted to photography and 3D character creation. We love her sense of style and her imagination. Nemesis74s' characters are full of life. There's a great sense of fun in her work that makes her characters compelling.

We spoke with Nem about her life and work in the interview below. Be sure to visit her gallery and say hello to her loveable dog, Jerry!

Tell us about yourself: how did you become a digital artist?

Nemesis74s: I started using Daz Studio in 2007, when I found a tutorial in a magazine: I fell in love and became addicted to 3d graphics. Later I also learned to use Bryce, Terragen and Poser.

I DAZ Studio is apparently your tool of choice: why do you like this program so much?

Nemesis74s: I'm in love with Daz because Iray render is so realistic and the software is also quite user-friendly.

Don't take photos when I eat by nemesis74s
Nemesis74s: About my render "Don't take photos when I Eat", I have this wonderful Pastry Shop by Samant and I wanted to render the characters of my store eating the sweets inside, at the table. I love food props, especially sweets! When I start creating a render, often I don't know what I'll do: I just start to look at what I have in my library, play with props and characters and the inspiration comes step by step, like magic: it's like if the image is creating itself...

Who are some of your favorite artists that inspire you?

Nemesis74s: Here on Renderosity there are awesome creators, so talented... Their creations inspire me and help me a lot to make my renders: for example Lilflame, Sveva, Shana'sSoulmate, Coflek-Gnorg, Samant, Exnem, 1971s, -Applejack, Evg3dren...

And I need to thank my dear friend Dieggo Masamune, who is awesome as an artist and a person, for doing me the honor of choosing me to work together and creating our products. Most of my renders contain our characters.

Any advice for artists just starting out with DAZ?

Nemesis74s: To the ones who are starting now with Daz I can tell: sometimes there are rude people and an artist can be insulted, it happened to me many times. When it happens you could think to stop rendering and just disappear... But don't do that: what matters in making art is that what you do comes from your core, the technical aspect can always be learned and improved with time and patience. I'm still learning too.

You love Photography as well as creating digital art. How did you become interested in taking photographs?

Nemesis74s: I love taking photos with my smartphone when I'm walking somewhere, I see a beautiful place or a particular detail and I feel like taking a picture of it...When I see pets I always have to take some photos. I think my father passed on to me the love of photography: when I was a child he always photographed me (now it's me trying to photograph him and he turns his face off... :-D)
