Born and raised in the city of Manchester, England, Renderosity’s Rising Star for April 2024 is CaramelStudio, known to friends and family as Rudy Sterling.
Back in his college days, he developed an interest in the world of 3D art and would often attend animation seminars where he got a good foundation for production.
Today, Sterling works in a bank, and is not married, so he has found himself with plenty of time to pursue 3D character modeling that he proudly offers up in the Renderosity marketplace.
He joined Renderosity just last summer, so we asked him a few questions on his career to this point.
What are the programs you first used while learning to create digital designs, and what are your favorite programs or tools now for work?
The first 3D program I used was MAYA and it took a very long time to learn, because the UI was very difficult for beginners to understand. When I use DAZ3D it looks very easy when compared to MAYA.
What motivated to you to become a vendor?
The reason I became a vendor was to get side income, because I know a little about the animation industry from the seminars I attended. I hope I can enter the professional 3D animation industry in the future.
What is the typical workflow on a project of yours?
When making a project for 1 character, I usually do research and collect sample photos first, after all the samples have been collected, I will do a photo of the head and body, after that do texturing in detail, and finally I do a rendering.
What are your favorite projects to create and what has been the most successful for you?
My favorite project was when I created the character Elenora, because it can be seen from a realistic perspective, the character looks very alive.
How did you make the decision to become a vendor at Renderosity?
My decision to choose Renderosity as a broker is that there are many great artists here. I feel proud when my character is sold in the same place as the other artists.
How has Renderosity made a difference or helped in your growth as a vendor?
Renderosity provides many opportunities for vendors to develop. Apart from that, vendors can make it easier with a simple product upload UI.
What are some products you want to create in the near future and what goals do you have in your development as a designer?
I will remain consistent in creating female characters who come from Europe, because that is where I was born. I have lots of references for beautiful women in my environment. I will put all my imagination and references into a work.
Any last thoughts or comments?
I always have words that continue to motivate me in life which come from the Spiderman film, namely "With great power comes great responsibility." May we all always be blessed. The last one is a thank you to everyone who has supported me, especially my grandmother, my family, and people who like my work. I love you.
