Cinema 4D Workshop 5: HDRI Lighting

Illuminate your new mouse using HDRI!

Managers: cartesius, kromekat

And there was HDRI! In part two of our mouse modeling workshop you will now build a small scene and illuminate it using HDRI (additional lights are allowed, of course). Focus will be on the mouse so the scene does not have to be very elaborate - a mousepad, maybe some pens, part of a keyboard could be visible, and so on. You are pretty much free to model what you like so take a good look at your mouse and desk in front of you. Remember that the key element of the final render is the mouse so there's no need to build a complete room.

There's one final twist: you must use a HDRI probe from Kel Solar's Online Portfolio. You are not allowed to use anything else ;)

If you missed the last workshop you can download nomenes' mouse model here (72 KB).

  • Only one entry per member
  • Model must be illuminated using HDRI
  • Post-processing in a 2D application is allowed but keep it to a minimum
  • The winner must provide the Cinema 4D-file for download
  • The workshop will start on August 31 and will be closed on September 30, at 16:00 CST (GMT -6), also known as Renderosity time (you can see Renderosity time at the top of this page)
  • Wip-postings in the forum are optional but highly encouraged so we can study and learn various approches
  • Image size should be 800x600

After the workshop we will have a public vote to select who did the best/most original job and the winner (or winners) will get the Cinema 4D Forum Workshop Award for display on his or her homepage!
