Sixus1's "Undying Love" contest.

"Undying Love" ... 5 years ago on a dark and chilly Halloween night Les and Rebekah pledged their undying love to each other. It is in the spirit of that promise that this contest is being held.

The basis of this theme is Halloween, Celebration and Love and can be carried in any number of directions. Halloween itself, with high-spirited ghosts glad for a night of freedom and mischief. HER in a wedding dress being toasted by the groomsmen. Vampires pledging their undying love. This is the end of the year in the old Celtic calender, so New Year's sub-themes are appropriate, too, (witches and warlocks at a black&white ball?). Or even Fortunato in motley being dispirited while the Cask of Amontillado isn't! Perhaps well-aged spirits of another sort? Help us celebrate with bonfires, feasts, toasts, or dancing until the dreaded dawn!

HERE ARE THE RULES:

1. Contest will begin on October 1st, 2004 at 12:00 am Renderosity server time (they are on CENTRAL Time, CST), and end at 11:59 pm CST on October 30,2004. Voting will close on November 1 at 11:59 CST. Winners be announced on November 2rd. 2. Image must be a maximum of 800 x 800 pixels. 3. ONE entry per person ONLY. NO collaborations allowed. Postwork is ALLOWED. 4. You are free also to post your contest images in your gallery once the image has been approved to the contest page, but comments and ratings must be DISABLED or your image will be disqualified. Once the contest is over, you are free to post your images to your gallery with comments and ratings ENABLED 5. Work must be YOUR OWN WORK. 6. A Sixus1 figure (free or otherwise) must be used in the image. 7. This contest is open to everyone.

PRIZES:
Choice of any 2 Sixus1 products 1 winner for each catagory of Popular Vote, Judging Panel, and Sixus1 Pick JUDGING:
Judges will be Rebekah, Shoshanna, hauksdottir & Sixus1.
Winners will be announced on or before October 31st 2004, at noon, Renderosity time.

JUDGING CRITERIA:

1.The Popular vote winner will be based on the image that gets the most votes. (The winning image must conform to the contest theme.) 2. The Judging Panel will judge on the following criteria: a. Depiction of contest theme b. Artistic merit (colour, lighting, composition, overall finish) c. Creativity 3. The Sixus1 Pick choice is based on which image Les (sixus1) likes the best.

The Small Print:
Artists grant permission to Renderosity for the use of submitted images for an undetermined period of time. This is strictly for posting the image on the front page and within the contest archives. The Artist will remain the intellectual property holder.

This image appealed to me on many levels. First off, the symmetry of the many design aspects just screamed at my art neauvou interest, which immediately caught my eye. Then the source of the symmetrical designs became clear, revealing at least one possible connection of the image to the theme. The shapes placed about the image are positioned to form the tree of the sephiroth, a symbolic representation of the iterations of various levels of creation from the "source". Depending on how one views this concept, it could definitely be seen as a representation of Undying Love, and whether Dreampaint meant to infer such meaning or it happened by accident, it is definitely there to be found and is the primary reason this image is my choice. Beyond the symbology, I love the color choices and lighting in the piece; it shows a great deal of thought and feeling went into it.
