Photography Forum April Challenge - Zone I

Photography Forum April Challenge Series... Leading LinesThis month's challenge focuses on the use of leading lines as a compositional element. For full details click the contest link above.

Managers: SueO, Alpha

The purpose of leading lines in a photograph, or any other image, is to provide a defined path for the viewer's eyes to the main focal point of the image. Leading lines can range from very crisp sharp hard lines like those created by the edge of an architectural element to the soft folds of silk or satin, to the use of a subject's own body to lead to the face. The key is to create an entry point for the eye, and provide a path for it to follow. For this challenge the subject matter is entirely up to you. The only real requirement is to photograph your subject so that you are using one or more leading lines to bring the viewers eyes to your subject. This will take a little bit of thought and studying, but training the eye to see and use this compositional tool is well worth the time and effort to learn. Entries will be accepted until midnight April 30th GMT. For full contest details on Rule, awards, etc., please visit the contest area of the News & Views section of the Photography Forum. If you have any questions, please feel free to IM Alpha directly. Have Fun, and best of luck to all! Alpha
