CONTEST THEME: Renderosity is teaming up with the Matters of the Force team at Dragon*Con! We are creating a banner to celebrate both the 25th anniversary of Star Wars and the contribution of CG to the realm of science fiction. The winning images will be assembled in a collage format to create the banner. This will be officially presented to the MOTF team at the 25th Anniversary opening ceremony at Dragon Con, and will be on display behind the panelists for the entire convention.
The banner will have a total of up to 64 winning images (Yes, 64!) arranged in a 'patchwork quilt' format with various Star Wars and Anniversary logos. So enter often, because there are many chances to win! This is a fantastic opportunity to get your Star Wars based fan art seen not only by the MOTF team, but by the entire convention. PRIZES: The winners will have their image appear in the finished banner which will be hung in the Matters of the Force Convention Hall! (This is where all the celebrity guests and panelists will appear -- great photo opportunities to have your art as the backdrop!) ENTRY RULES: -Entry is open to all Renderosity members. -Enter as many times as you like. -Any type of program can be used to create the finished piece. -Entries must relate to the given Contest Theme (see above). -Any charachters portrayed must be officially recognised characters- no fan made charachters. -Submitted image files must be at least than 1500 x 1500 pixels and be in JPG or GIF format. The image you post for the contest must be no larger than 700 pixels however, so if it is initially created at a larger size, please reduce it to the appropriate dimensions for entry. -Entries must also reflect the TOS of this community. -Artists grant permission to Renderosity for the use of submitted images for an undetermined period of time. The Artist will remain the intellectual property holder of his/her work. -Any entry which falls outside these rules will be ineligible. -Any attempt to circumvent these rules may result in the suspension of future contest entry priviliges. DURATION: Entries will be accepted from July 5, 2002 to August 20th 2002. (** Deadline has been extended! so get your entries in NOW! **) JUDGING: All entries be presented to a panel of MOTF judges who will have one week to award points to each finals image. Winners will be determined by the highest accumulation of judges' points. Points will be awarded on a scale of 1-20. Judge points will be based on five categories for each finals image: 1 - composition 2 - accurate charachter/scene portrayal 3 - artistic merit/technique 4 - originality 5 - effort/excellence Winners will be announced on August 29th 2002.
