This story just came to me in a burst of inspiration. Things are learned from horror movies are: 1) Always believe your brother when they insist upon seeing dead people and creatures in their closet. 2) Never answer the phone when the electric goes out. 3) Don't wait for the ghost to show up! Get out of the house as soon as possible!
