Entry #11

"Anticipation" Just a few minutes before midnight and Christmas Day. What will Father Christmas bring us? Was I good, or will I find a lump of coal in my Christmas stocking? I was playing about with different objects and Christmassy lighting. I found that the close-ups I took with my compact camera looked grainy on certain colors, so I tried the camera on my phone. I used Photoshop to create the blur. I was going to try a light bokeh effect, but decided that I wanted to keep more of the detail from the light-rope. The thought that the mixture of lights, wood and brass plates on the calendar / clock gave it a sort of steampunk look. I was inspired by the anticipation of Christmas morning finally coming, as for months beforehand shops and other businesses are trying to sell you the "perfect Christmas". The calendar and clock are set to just a few minutes before midnight as if the countdown is almost at an end. The photo only took about 10-15 minutes in Photoshop but it took about 2 hours to get a photograph that I was happy with.
