Kali: Oh, a few pieces of candy and maybe an apple but I can't see below that. But it isn't for us, you know.

Early on I thought of a scene with Kali and Kelm looking through their stockings, but weeks later on I thought that climbing up to peek inside would be more fun and simpler too, once I had the poses done.

The first step was importing the fireplace scene to make and save the figure poses which took about an hour.

The next day I set up the scene and lights, then adjusted the lights, poses and cameras while making many fast test renders - and then rendered the final scene  - about 3 hours.

When I was a kid the stockings were a major Christmas event. We couldn't touch what was under the tree until after breakfast was over and cleaned up. And even the stockings couldn't be touched until everyone was up and dressed. So Kali and Kelm are the naughty elves who get up before dawn and break the rules just a little bit by peeking.
