I check Wikipedia...a ghoul is a monster or evil spirit associated with graveyard and consuming human flesh.

Okay...so...what would a ghoul do on Halloween night?

Go Trick or Treating...in a cemetary...dressed as...

a human

Hence Jack the Lantern. Because Jack is the lantern.

Jack is also the trick and the treat.
