Cemetery Goblin
I took the photo with my iPhone5.
The headstone and mummified goblin were both made by me. The headstone is insulation foam, cut and carved like any number of tutorials for DIY tombstones found online. The design is based on old English headstones, freehand drawn then tranfsered to the foam. It took maybe 10 hours with x-acto knives and lino carving tools to "chisel" it in - at least it was about a week in the garage with two podcasts a night. The painting was fun - just craft paint, then overpainting with black and washing it off. White glue and green "grass" for model railroading is the moss. Clothes hanger wire, cut with sheers, stabbed into the bottom anchor it to the ground.
The mummy is based on the mummified fairy tutorial by Dan Baines I got from his kickstarter a few years ago. Its basically a toy skeleton with paper-maché and paint. I used polyclay to add ears and nose, and roots for hair, then painted everything with craft paint and added wings purchased with the tutorial. The whole process was over four days, mostly waiting for things to dry.
The image I took into PS and enhanced the color (it was a little washed out on my monitor), tried to wash out the background a little to emphasis the front, and added some scratches and a plate of antique glass from Ron's Antique Glass.
I was inspired to make tombstones, starting years ago, by DIY tutorials I found online, and the lack of affordable decorations for my yard. I've been making them for a few years, one or two each year - now I have a small cemetery. The mummified goblin came from hearing about Dan Baines great story (look up fairy hoax) on Propnomicon. I got the tutorial (excellent BTW) and have made a few. I think these two are my best of each; at least they are my favorites. I hope you like them.
