The Victor found the dying Scarred One laying in a high meadow surrounded by blue flowers

 and an Honor Guard of mostly dead and dying and there He and She fulfilled the great Prophesy

I have been playing with a Fantasy/Sci-Fi novel and this is a scene where an ancient prophesy is realized. An accidental battle in a stalemated twenty year old war has taken place. It would be the breakout leading to total victory. But in this battle while the heroine is fatally wounded she finds she is the one to fulfill this prophesy:

Though the Victory won, the wounded many yields to a triumphant few

One bearing many scars of defeat will die on the field of green and blue

Orphaned, raped, scarred, left barren, This Emperor's child of scorn

Though Trice dead rising from deaths shadows will a nation born
