The priestesses of Aphrodite were tasked with clearing the undead in the yearly culling of an ancient crypt in the Undercairns ruins. Usually the undead that inhabited these forsaken ruins included zombies, skeletons and ghouls with the occasional small packs of shadows and wights. These lesser monsters were typically not too much trouble for novitiate sisters of the goddess of Life and Beauty but the relatively low level priestesses did not count on a vampiress making the crypt her new lair and were woefully unprepared for that very powerful horror. The servants of Aphrodite fought valiantly but ultimately paid dearly with their lives.
Although the undead rallied around their new mistress of the dead, the vampiress was in no mood to share her fallen prize with the others knowing full well that there wouldn't be anything left for herself if the ghouls, ghasts and other crypt fiends ravened on the dead vessels of warm flesh first...

Back in the 1980's when I played a LOT of AD&D, my players loved dungeon delves that included undead nightmarish creatures. But sometimes those expeditions ended up in total party kills - especially when they were just beginning to learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons.
I used DAZ Studio 4, Iray. I ended up using GIMP editor afterward to fix the resolution to 72 DPI and the width to 1200 pixels when I saw the render limits for this contest. Oops. The creative development time took somewhere between 5-6 hours. The render time was half an hour with the use of my new Nvidia GTX 1080 TI.
