When I saw the themes of Romance, Fairies and Fantasy my mind almost immediately went to a fairy version of Courtly and Forbidden Love. Where you have the courtly noble woman being romanced by a knight of the sylvan court. Distinguished as he may be their romance is both admired and to be denied.
