Yellow water-lily, a European aquatic plant, half immersed in water, visited by several tiny insects. Did you know that the roots of waterlilies can be eaten?  In desperate times these might have been a means for survival. On the other hand, swimmer, beware, or the long floating stems might grab and drown you! These plants are known to be the garden of the Nix, a water spirit who doesn't like humans very much.
