Zaira was five years old when she died of meningitis. It was the early 1900s. Her family was wealthy, so they commissioned a funeral statue to remember her from the area's best artist. The statue portrayed her sitting with a pensive expression, holding beside her the hoop she usually played with, a typical toy for children of the time. Zaira became known as The Little Girl with the Hoop, because the statue was so beautiful that everyone admired it. Legends were born about her.... The little girl is said to appear at midnight in the ancient cemetery, running and pushing her beloved hoop, near the main gate. Sometimes teens dare each other to go nearby to see her.
Another legend says that on the night of Nov. 2nd Zaira appears on the rooftops of the street where she lived and if she finds children looking out of the window she asks them to play with her, if a child says yes will soon die...
