Entry #70

The work is based on the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin’s poem of the same name, which happens to be one of the most poetic and beautiful fairy tales. In the midst of the wedding party of Prince Ruslan and Ludmila, daughter of a Kievan Grand Prince, Ludmila was abducted by the evil sorcerer-dwarf Chernomor. Ruslan, after a fierce fight, succeeded in winning over Chernomor by cutting off the dwarf’s beard. Chernomor had lost all his powers with his beard gone. The picture represents the journey back to Kiev, through the enchanted forest.
