Sunday, October 8th, 1871 7:00pm --- Peshtigo, Wisconsin At this moment, the deadliest forestfire in US history occurred. Over 2,200 people died or vanished as a literal tornado of fire, over 5 miles wide eradicated the town. The firestorm threw fireballs up to 7 miles out into Lake Michigan, igniting ships and a lighthouse! Little help came for the few survivors. Most aid had already been sent to battle the Chicago Fire, which erupted at the exact same time!
