Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that there is a new version of the particle software "particleIllusion" that just came out - particleIllusion SE. It is a lighter version of the original software, but it still packs serious punch.

I told the programmer/owner of the company, that a lot of people in the poser community use pIllusion, but that the price, which is already pretty low ($300), might be a little restrictive for hobbyists. He came up with the idea for particleIllusion SE, with poser users in mind. The price is $129, but he is starting it at $99 for a short while.

The software is a real-time particle generator that can be used for animation or still images to add fire, rain, water, explosions, smoke, sparkles and a whole bunch of other stuff to your poser scenes. If you are using other 3D packages, like Max or Maya, you can use the software to make animated bumpmaps and lighting gells that look pretty cool - I use PI to simulate underwater lighting caustics. If you use after Effects or photoshop, the software has even more to offer when you composite.

I use the full version of particleIllusion in my professional work - It has saved me lots of time and money, even in the short run. The company has a cool demo reel to DL - plus you can get the demo version from his site for free - www.wondertouch.com.

A while back, I wrote a tutorial at RuntimeDNA on adding effects into your poser scene with PI - you can see that at Billy's Animaniacs Forum (at RDNA) there to get a better idea of what it does.

Anyway, I just want to say, I don't get paid for promoting the software. I apologize if this posting offends anyone - I just thought that a lot of people from this forum would benifit from knowing about it since it could help add some cool stuff to their images animations.

All the best,

Aharon

Thanks for the tip. That's a great price, on my way now.

I'm not offended. I've had my eyes on this software for some time now, and read your tutorials earlier this year with great interest. This application is even more useful for Poser users, now that P5 supports animated materials via its Movie shader. Just imagine the possibilities of created a video sequence of flame or explosions and then applying it to a square prop in Poser 5, with transparency.

I'm greatly offended Anton! Now my secret weapon is REALLY out of the bag! ;-)

That's a great marketing strategy for those guys (or that guy I should say), and hopefully he'll do well.

Although, Anton, I must admit ... I'm a little disappointed. If you're like me, you have been awaiting Version 3 with bated breath. I thought you had a lead on V3. I check their site every other day normally, just to see if there is news on V3. Illusion (Now ParticleIllusion) is simply on of the best pruchases and animator can make, hands down.

Take care,
Tim

Actually, I'm Aharon, not Anton - but yeah it rocks (as does you holgrphic stuff, Tim). I am moderating a pIllusion forum at creative cow, and the programmer (Alan) answers questions regularly - Support is excellent. I'm not sure about the relaese date for 3 - Alan is doing his best to make it really worth the upgrade, so I think it will be worth the wait. There some new info on version 3 at the creatiove cow forum: http://www.creativecow.net/index.php?forumid=23

Aharon: DOH!! Sorry, yes I know your not Anton. That's what I get for reading two posts at once. (The other being one from Anton) Jump: Ummm, I NEVER do. (I know, my loss.) Well, unless you include right now, but only because I clicked on the link from the automated email sent by R'Osity.

arabinowitz ( ) posted Fri, 20 December 2002 at 8:39 AM

what is the OT forum? i didn't even know it existed. Lyyra, while it isn't Poser per se, it was designed speciffically with poser users in mind, to enhance their artwork. I'f hate to see this info fall into the black void. Thanks. Aharon

Product Showcase would have been more appropriate IMO. Bill

I was going to suggest the Animation forum, but the thread has already been bounced around twice, so I'll just keep my muzzle shut.
