I see someone is selling a kit to make all kinds of cute little pubic hair shapes, which I think is using a prop. Overall, I think that approach gives you more versatility. If you have to paint them on, a small alternate "shaved" overlay would welcome. I recall seeing a magazine layout years ago that combined artful trimming with painting to produce some great "pubic portraits," I suppose. Castro and Mr. T were hilarious and you can imagine the dimple in Kirk Douglas' chin.
