Electra may be a useful freebie to mess with, but I'd rather pay for a Lightwave version (or C4D, Maya, etc) of V3 or similar, and hair, and clothes, and other characters/models. Assuming the price is not that much more than poser version. Plus a V3 for higher end 3D could make use of nurbs, SDS, hypernurbs, and not have to be 70,000+ polys.

I know about Zygote. None of their stuff is remotely as cool as DAZ stuff is for poser.

I know you can import obj files into 3d programs. But the DAZ models for poser go right into poser with textures already mapped the way they need to be, and you can do posing and animation immediately cause they're already boned.

Probably my question was unclear. I was thinking more along the lines of being able to purchase a version of say V3, for Lightwave for example, that loads right in, textured perfectly without extra fussing, already boned for LW, and thus instantly posable and animatable. And a way to add clothes, etc, and have it all work, easy as poser. Likewise for C4D, Maya, etc. You'd get the benefits of better lighting, rendering, modeling props and new clothes right there in your app of choice. Maybe there isn't a easy way to do this. Maybe the market is too small. Maybe to support higher end 3D apps, DAZ would want to charge too much. Maybe they're happy with Poser 4 plus ProPack plugins handling of this.

And I'm not really saying to do this for every high end app -- pick one, or two. Maybe just the one they use to create DAZ stuff in in the first place. They mention LW on their site, maybe that's what they're using.

Kind of wish DAZ would answer why they aren't doing this. I'm sure there's a reason, just curious as to what it is. Maybe DAZ Studio is why.
