Biggest problems with 3dmetafiles? 1. It's really a Mac native format and files that end with the 4 digit extension (.3dmf) are Mac files that just won't work on a PC. 2. There are THREE forms of cross platform 3dmetafiles: .b3d (binary) .t3d (text) .3mf(useless) Whatever form you get, chances are your program can't use it. 3. Like vrml 2. 3dmetafile imbeds the texture in the geometry rather than including a seperate texture file. When you actually can get a successful conversion, it splits the imbedded texture into hundreds if not thousands of tiny uncompressed bitmap files, most of them completely redundant but each uniquely named and therefore necessary. The result is that a simple textured 3d metafile might turn into a 60 or 80 meg 3DS file with hundreds of supporting bitmaps.

I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!
