Don't bother importing as a single mesh.. all you have to do is import with different parts, then select them all and set them all to the same smoothing group. (I forget, but you might have to select the vertices for this.. it's been a really long time.) Check out the 3DS Max forum for more info on this.. there are already a few threads about this. Rosh
