Nice image. Personally I like the way her hair flows. It looks like it's moving in the wind. Perhaps you could make further suggestion of that by leaning those grasses on the right hand side towards the right as well. I also like the simplicity of the dress. It doesn't detract from the rest of the image. Perhaps consider a subtle pastel red or something if you are looking to bring her out more. Other than that, if you were looking for suggestions on how to enhance the image further, I would think about adding more foreground vegetation so that it doesn't look quite so flat. And perhaps reducing the scale of the texture/bumps on the foreground rock. The texture looks fine for sandstone type rocks, but the texturing on the landscape in the background suggests to me that the local rock here is a more sedimentary and finely textured rock ;) My tuppence worth. HIH. -- JasonI think it definitely needs more veggies...trees and underbrush. It seems unlikely that those (two trees) should be the only trees around. The caslte looks like walls surrounding a tower. If you don't have anything else to add to it, then I'd let it "peek" through the trees (and such) that I suggested added. Of course, that's just an artistic opinion. You may have a different image in your mind.
Thanks for the comments. I wouldn't usually explain what I'm trying to achieve - if I did I'd have failed, yes? - but seeing as I'm asking for advice here... The (accidentally arrived at) background made me think of vague childhood memories of places. So I wanted to achieve a contrast between the unrealistic past backdrop and a realistic, slightly threatening, foreground future, with the girl standing on the boundary between the two. Sorry if that sounds a bit pretentious:) Anyway, on my home monitor it looked great. Tried it on a TFT panel at work and the foreground looks horrendous, especially that damn rock. Must turn up the brightness on my monitor! There's certainly way to much ambient light too. I'm working on it. John

Did you checked the gamma setting for your monitor ? I had a problem two month ago when I discovered I was working with a 2.4 gamma (standard PC) as the standard for graphic seems to be gamma 1.8 (standard MAC). Follow above link to have more informations on monitor calibration (brightness, contrast) ;=) YvesThis site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
