A Mech. dragon sounds interesting. Haven't heard that request before. My Mecha-Godzilla is back in the shop being upgraded. And it would require a very similar modeling technique. It would be a big file though because mech. meshes need a lot of edges. Probably between 8-12 meg. Depending on how detailed it is.
