The way Grendel was described, what little description there was, he seemed far too humanoid to be a dragon. However, the description of his mother, what there was, seemed to fit the draconic mold. I tend to picture Grendel himself as a reptillian, trollish humanoid, with a dragon's bloodline flowing in his veins.
