Well, I've always had a fondness for Quetzalcoatl (..Thanks for the spelling, xoconostle!) because it's indeed just barely within the realms of real biology, considering the relationship of reptiles to birds. Archaeopteryx being the fossil that springs to mind. Who knows what remnant population survived up to human habitation times in the jungles of South and Central America? Certainly, it wouldn't violate any known rules of biological patterns on Earth--such as six-limbed (ie. winged plus four legged) dragons....unless they are of insect origin??? hmmmmm.... there's a thought!
