One problem that I have seen with W98Se as concerns Bryce and some other memory intensive apps is leakage. You may indeed physically have "x" Mb or Gb of RAM but what can be accessed is another story. Some programs do not always release all of their resources back to the general pool upon closure. That is why I asked about a reboot (all the RAM in the general pool is available except for that reseved for the OS) and no other apps running. Corel's PhotoPaint is one that can do this when after a seriously heavy session of photomanipulation. Various virus check programs are another bad one for this.
