Well I use truespace and wings together and the main reason I like wings for modelling (at least for certain types of models) ... are the selection tools which are not available in truespace ... for example ...
one key press to select an edge loop or and edge ring!!!
in truespace that would involve a painstaking process of selecting edges and rotating the view and selecting edges repeat repeat repeat. plus it has "magnets" which I don't have in truespace. Also, adding detail to a mesh is easier (at least for me) in wings to add a new edge loop to an existing mesh is just two or three clicks ... in truespace I would have to "draw each line one by one"

I can't speak for the LW users but those are a couple reasons why I like wings.
