Subject: JCM, Vicky 3, conforming clothes and other questions

first post failed so...

Hello
I am wondering if someone very knowledgeable in this area can shed some light for me. Since there quite a number of things I'd to get confirmation about.

I use Poser 4.03

I understand the JCM morphs are conformtargeted to figure 1, does that mean for it to work Vicky 3 must be the first model to be loaded before anything else. I had built a shirt complete with JCM morphs to accomodate V3. However when I load V3 as a second figure, the morphs on both V3 and the shirt does not work. Although, when V3 was loaded initially, the shirt second then it works.

Is this true? if so is there a work around.

What will happen when there are multiple V3 on the stage. I have no wish of setting a specific name for my conformingTarget other than the standard. Meaning editing the cr2 to associate with the figure order in Poser everytime I need to conform is out of the question.

Second, should I use the trackingScale value from V3 cr2 for each of the shirt JCM morphs or its own. Or rather figure it out through trial and error.

There will probably be more. But I'd like to get confirmation on the above.

Thanks in advance

You have to use Rbtwiz's Null loader if you have more than one V3 in the scene, same way as crosstalk is prevented with any Poser figure. It is seldom mentioned that you should also restart Poser for every new scene, use the Null loader if more than one figure, otherwise load the figure first, then the clothing.

I actually did that, the second V3 and her clothing failed to show the morph results, not to mention it made my Poser very hard to navigate. The density of the V3 mesh really requires major CPU power. Thought, I take it the order is implicit then. Conforming target (figure) loads first then the conformers (clothing.) Always and ever? thanks

What you will want to do is prepare before hand the various figures you want to have combined. For example, say I want to have a pregnant Victoria 3, a buxom victoria 3, and a male morph enhanced Victoria 3 all together. I first go through one by one and create these figures and save out new cr2's for each one. Then I can start a new scene, using the Null as usual, and load in each of my characters. Then everything should work fine. But to have multiple figures in the scene and try to be customizing them all within the same scene will cause problems. Just remember that all these improvements to Victoria 3 (and the accompanying learning curve ;) ) are worth it. Our intention is to make things as easy and as versatile as possible, and though some of the current procedures with these new innovations are sticky for many right now, in the future, this should all become much easier.

if you morphing your figur V2 or V3 with bodymorphs make of all parts of body a morph and call it as on name a or b or what ever. on this way you can use more then one V2/v3 figur in your scene

Do I only need to load the null once for all the characters or one for each? Thanks, Marque

SKondris ( ) posted Thu, 16 January 2003 at 9:59 AM

Marque, it depends on just what you're doing. If you are just doing a scene and a render, etc but not going to be saving out the scene, then just once, it should be the first CR2 you load into your new scene, then you can add as many figures as you like. If, however, you are going to be saving the scene, you'll want to load one in between every figure you add. Rob has a nice tutorial on this whole ERC/crosstalk issue on his site, we're still working on getting a copy of it on our site as well, for now, here's the link: Rob's Null Loader Tut Steve Kondris DAZ Productions, Inc.

Thanks, I really need to just sit down and go through that and get my head straight on it. Marque

Thank you for the respond. But how about the trackingScales on the conforming cloth morphs. Can someone please explain to me in detail about that. PS. I also found that while saving a cloth figure not conformed to any figure, Poser get rids of the JCM. Is this a glitch in my installation or is that just the way it is.

Uzilite ( ) posted Thu, 16 January 2003 at 10:44 AM

And actually, the issue that I really wishes to understand deals more in preparing, creating conforming clothings for V3. So as to repeat Skondris wrote, if I load, in this order, null figure, buxom V3, null figure, slender V3. Now I load bikini top conformed to buxom V3, and bikini bottom conformed to slender V3. The JCM on the clothes will still work correctly?

While I am it- ;) Steve, have DAZ ever consider of making a SDK kit or developer section on the Daz site. With all the new technology feature in V3, i think such a feature will only help its marketability while facilitating efficient and continous creation of clothings for V3.

Wusamah, have you asked some of these questions over at PoserPros? Jim Burton and Dave71 and others have been going through some essential problems and differences in making Vicki 3 clothing and might have your answers. Might not, but it's worth a try. www.poserpros.com Emily
