As far as we can tell from the evidence, as long as there have been Homo sapiens there has been Art, Music, Storytelling (including Poetry), and Dance. All forms of entertainment for those who can't do them, all ways of passing time for those who can; all still exist in one form or another. As soon as these forms of what we refer to collectively as the Arts were begun, the first critics were born. The first criticisms probably took the form of throwing rocks at the artists, musicians, storytellers and dancers ("Og no like! Make it stop!"); I'm afraid some critics still haven't advanced very much beyond that. :^) If you make art and share it with others, you're open to criticism. If you're an artist, and are a little overcritical of the work of others, you might want to rethink this attitude. You have better ways of expressing yourself through your own art.(Money where your mouth is, and all that). Life is too short to waste in non-constructive ways, when you have the gift to create. Just be ready to dodge when the rocks start coming your way. :^)

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.
