Adding to a year-old thread, that has to be some kind of a record, LOL! To my knowlege, there is absolutely no reason to mess around with a text editor to make any PZ2 file, all the things you mention and far more are automated in CR2Edit6. It isn't free, but then, most people do place a value on their time.
