If you mean the figure at the top of the page, not the one Wolf just posted, that was done in 3DSMax. Follow the links to the other forum, and the fact that page 12 shows pics of the mesh proves this because they are MAX screenshots with the viewport marked on them in yellow, in edged faces smooth+highlights mode.
