The Poser 5 Setup Room is the same as the Poser 4 Pro Pack set up room, so any tutorials for PP4 would work. Curious Labs used to have a tutorial on making a simple laptop prop, but I'm not sure if that is offered anymore; I was going to check for you but I can't get into the Curious Labs website right now. Poser 4 Pro Pack FX and Design has a whole chapter on the set up room, if you have access to that book that might be a help. Creating models with Poser's limited selection of primitives would indeed be a challenge. I've seen free primitive collections to augment Poser's on the web; if you want to model something with primitives it might help to have a larger selection. I think that what you end up doing when you get the hang of it more would be to import models from other applications to convert to poseable figures.
