Vicky in the Temples is just a short cut way of talking about fads in Poser graphics...where you see one after another of almost identical graphics produced for apparently the single purpose of getting lots of hits without requiring much thought or creativity to create them. I've seen a bunch of Vickys in the Temple and I just skip past them now, so I wouldn't know if they are fading as a subject item or not. There is more than one problem with getting participation. One, there is a lot of disinfranchised people who won't participate in anything because of a history they or friends of theirs have on Renderosity. I'm not saying they're right. I'm not saying they're wrong. But they aren't going to participate no matter what the challenge or what the prize or what the motive is. Two, there are the inert masses. The majority of people who sign up on Renderosity don't participate in anything. Which is the same as in life which is why people who don't vote shouldn't whine about the results. Three, it's hard to get people who have real lives to take time out to spend on these things. Four, some people don't think they are good enough. That includes me. I entered the banner contest knowing I wouldn't get a single vote...and I didn't and I'm fine with that because the other contestants were superior to me and I knew from the beginning they were. But not everyone wants to take the risk of entering and being ignored. And I'm sure there are more. I don't know what it would take to recover from the bad feelings that have been created in the Poser forum and gallery. I am hoping as we have new people come on board, maybe they will bring some enthusiasm and new ideas and new life to the place. If not, the site will die. And that will be the end of that.
