I don't think Rosity should scrap the current system of galleries by software. I think by adding the genre flag as I mentioned, you will get the best of both worlds and be able to find images by platform, by genre, or maybe even both depending on how it's setup.
I think policing would probably be a function of other members suggesting a move rather than an official policing policy. Where would one draw the line between one genre and the next? A sci-fi scene that is well done, but may have a girl in a tight outfit could be seen as sci-fi by some and a pinup by the other. I can just imagine the arguments that are going to come over that one. I think some degree of tolerance will be necessary as it is now in suggesting what categories (just like what software) to avoid such major arguments. From what I've seen, if a picture is inherently in the wrong category, they are usually asked to move them (a Bryce image in 2D for example) But as long as it relates to the category, it's usually fine and that is probably how it would have to be approached on a genre field too.
