bob : Part of it has to do with your lighting. Turn of any shadowing. And get as even lighting as you can. Use a good global light set. The other is how you export it. Use PNG / tiff / bmp / psd ... and bring it in already masked. Save the mask template . After you make your changes to anti alaised bmp's load up the mask and feather it a bit , inverce the selection and delete . It should give you some cleaner edges.
