I use Poser mostly for fun (mine and others'), but it can come in very handy as either reference material, finished product, or both when I'm making play posters, newspaper cartoons, and other such things. It's also a fun way to generate work to put in an upcoming art show. I'm sort of the big fish in a small pond when it comes to art--at least 3D CG art--at my law school. No one else really knows about Poser, so they tend to be very impressed when I make something with it. :)
