Subject: How to make hair invis, but not beard?

taerin ( ) posted Wed, 02 April 2003 at 7:18 PM · edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 1:15 PM

Hey guys - I'm fighting with Mike's fantasy beard right now, trying to make the hair invisible, but not the beard. I'm having no luck whatsoever. I've tried selecting some of the 'body' parts, like rHair and lHair, and setting them to invisible, but that doesn't seem to make any difference. The hair and beard appear to be one solid piece, rather than two or more individuals. Anyone clues out there? TIA, - taerin

Take the trans map off the "hair" material and leave the slider at 100%. Click render. Anton

Bless you, O Master. That worked perfectly. :-D I just hope it wasn't in a FAQ somewhere that I missed... And while I have the eyes of anyone reading, it seems that you can only add lights from the Lights library. I thought that applying a lighting preset changed the number, color, location, etc of lights in your document. Apparently, that's not the case. I saved the default 3-light setup, but when I reapplied it after using a set of nearly 50 lights, the existing ones didn't go away. Is there an easier way to remove lights, other than selecting them one by one and clicking the tiny trashcan? Thanks again, - taerin

lol. No problem...Light sets don't delete lights...they just shut lights offf. Strange huh??

I'm afraid you'll have to delete each one - one by one. Sucks, eh? One of Poser's lovely little quirks...LOL. That's if you're using Poser 4. If you are using ProPack, I think there's a Python script in freestuff that'll delete them for ya. Laurie

Ooh, a script! I haven't even played around with them yet, thanks for mentioning it! :-)
