Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
Thanks for the info Katherine. SR2.1 is very stable on my Athlon 1000 with 396 MB RAM and ATI video card. Slow but stable. As above, I'd rather wait and get a real improved P5-upgrade. It would be nice to give a clue on the improvements. We don't need details; just would like to know what to expect. Only internal stability upgrades? Or did some rooms get improved also? Some import-export plug-ins. Just a clue. Thaks for reading; Tony

cue THE VOCAL MINORITY!!!<<< Nah, I'll pass. I see no need to keep kicking a dead horse. As I stated, the only time I offer my opinion of Poser 5 is when some fellow member of the community asks whether he/she should buy it. Then, contrary to those who seem very intent on trying to intimidate us into silence, I will give them my opinion if it suits me and to hell with those who don't like it. On another point, though I am sure it is a misnomer, it is the EXTREMELY VOCAL MINORITY. EVM for short. T-shirts and ballcaps are on order and should be here within a few weeks. Take care, be well, keep flying. casamerica
Berserga I'm thinking people just don't want to deal with it but trust me, I'm sure it's not a minority. I don't know why more people don't stand up and demand what was promised not only to us at Renderosity, but in the magazine ads as well. I'm with cas and I will take a shirt AND a ballcap...lol Marque
I dont think anyone said they didnt't want it they just dont want a patch that's one step forward and two steps back. If it takes longer to create an update that does that then so be it. I for one dont want to waste my time on an Sr3 that requires an Sr4 I think we all want a program that everything that was promised is delivered. its just that we are tired of saying we want it now, becouse we have seen where that leads.
I just went and finally bought Poser5. Finishing the 700MB download right now, last 15 Meg coming in. Been at it for 3 hrs, lol... The price was right. 145 bucks for the upgrade from P4. Excellent! If I'd bought it ove the counter here in Sweden it would have been nearly $440 including the 25% sales tax. That's for the upgrade folks!! The full version costs $840 here incl tax, a disgusting price. They won't sell many at that rate.... :] Fish
Hi Katherine: I appreciate your candor. Who the heck is "Starlet"?? There was a post about the SR3 release from a Starlet yesterday, plus I got an email from CL on it as well. You guys are operating at cross purposes it seems....jack 'em up Katherine! :) I could give you a list of things that are still a bit buggy even with SR-1, but let me simply say that if I don't see the Vue d'Esprit interface that's been suggested as being "in the works", as part of SR-3, I'm going to be highly disappointed....I mean "highly" disappointed!! If you can find out something about that issue that you can share, I would be immensely grateful!
hmmm... sounds to me like they're having problems with it during testing. the end of april release came right off their own website, nobody made it up. and now they're backing off that a little for a stable program. sounds like some problems may have arisen. that's fine. putting out a bug swatter with a big ol' hole in it isn't going to make anyone happy :)
Rich, no backing down from CL. Dates in the software industry are always "soft". In fact in 12 years, I barely remember one release of software that that had significant feature sets rather than simple-ware that came out on the original expectation. There are no significant issues for SR3 and this could very well come out in April - - I just prefer to "post" the actual know date when I feel it is no longer "soft". Hopefully this has made my original post on this more clear. I will also list the items planned in SR3 when I have this date as engineer's are always adding items in until the very last minute. Kind regards, Katherine
Well I used to Admin for AT&T Labs (UK), and our dev teams were always on time, now admitedly that was building less than glamourous security, billing and rating systems for telecos, but not everyone goes over time and over budget. Meanwhile, I have something interesting for you lot tonight, (no, not SR3 :) But germaine to the conversation :P later jb
Have to add my vote to the "Better later than buggy" crowd. The other option was what got us into this mess, after all. Shouting about wanting it NOW does no good, however justified the sentiment. You want it now, regardless of its condition? Didn't we already go there? A couple of times? If SR3 is not a sizeable step forward in bug fixes, it may be perceived as a sign that the product will always be unreliable and unstable. That is in no one's best interests, I think.
Heh, Marque and Cas are correct of course, we should expect what we were promised. But, gee, we couldn't be a minority, could we? After all, when egi announced the sweep of CL, it was blamed on all us malcontents who complained so much. Must have been more than a few. Anyway, as I said before, hopefully this new team are professionals and not some kids playing with a toy. Then we might get what was promised and there won't have to be an EVM any more. But if that doesn't happen, I want a hat and shirt, too.

I Live in Germany, but I don't speak that much German, even so I go through the magazines every month, just to see what people are saying, (old habits die hard :) So I'm flicking through this months Grafik & Video magazine (link) when I come across the ad above, and I think to my self "Looks like poser, if only they'd listen..." Becuase for a while I though that if CL wanted to make some cash, they should drop the artisitic pretense and market poser to horny geek boys, "Hey boys! Want to make you're own naked women?" I figure it has to be good for a few thousand sales at least. So imagine my surprise when my eyes track down, (no, further down :) to find out which of the majors this is an ad for... "Bloody hell! Poser5... God bless the Germans!" I think they finaly "get it" :) later jbThis site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. Our own cookies make user accounts and other features possible. .........to give you a heads up that the rumor is fairly strong and being repeated to newbies and others that SR 3 will be released at the end of the month.
Hi,
Thank you for being direct on the rumors of our releasing SR3 end of the month that are circulating.
To be upfront on this, I believe our engineers working on SR3 have similar expectations, but the date of release is not FIRM as of yet.
I don't have the post, but a month ago I explained that I do not want us giving dates that can not be close to perfect - - (as close to perfect as it can get in the software industry). Please allow me to post the date of release once test results are more clear. Please understand that there's a definite chance it may GM AFTER the end of this month.
More details along with status will be posted before the end of this month.
Kind regards,
Katherine
