This is from the Chinese New Year parade in San Francisco. I have close-ups that are slightly more clear, but not full length, if you're interested. You are probably too busy, so I may have to tackle this myself after I finish my Vicky texture. :-) I'm intrigued by the barely visible dragon design on the left (I've also seen one in black). Might have to do a painting of what I think it looks like, and use that for a texture. Darn video captures are just a tantalizing hint! Wish I new where the San Francisco Asian community buys their dresses, and if there's a catalogue!

Talos: Head out to Clement street in the low (2nd to 12th) avenues or to Irving street starting just after 19th. Those are the real chinatowns. Not the tourist spot downtown. That's where you'll find Chinese stuff but not asian in general. We've all got seperate communites. Though actually you might have better luck finding these sorts of outfits in the tourist traps since people don't wear this kind of stuff anymore than the caucasians dress in lace, stockings, and big white wigs. :)

Hmmm. Thanks arcady! That's very interesting. I sure think they look purty though! Well, it was a for a festive holiday parade, after all. Jim Burton has this cool Cheongsam for posettes, renapd made some great textures for it, and I remembered these designs showed considerable flair and imagination.
