Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
Most folks make pictures, either for their own enjoyment or to display in places like the Renderosity gallery. Some make images for websites or for greeting cards. It's also possible to make still illustrations for a paper book; or a combination of still and animated pictures for a digital book (e.g. courseware, PPT presentations.)

Maybe check the tutorials here on this site or from 3D worlds or try the included handbook (help button). This last one is not for print but there is a printable edition on the net (376 pages) Checkout Render and render options in the taskbar. You can save poser files in the classical windows way and when you "save as" you have 1; One file saved as a poser file (for later adjustment you see the poser image next to the file) and 2.after that there is one saved automatically asa jpeg image file. Check out also the export and import possibilities from the "file" menu. Just a newbee myself lost in labraries.
You can do whatever you want with them. You can export to 3DS Max, Maya, Lightwave, Vue d'Esprit, Bryce, whatever. You can make "movies" or animations directly in Poser, or export to your application of choice, and animate there. You may chose, for example, use your Poser figure in 3DS Max, rig the character there, build your scene there, and export your files from there into yet another application like MotionBuilder for animating purposes, and then when done with that, export your animation again, import back into 3DS Max for rendering. Dive in and have fun, let your creativity guide you. Evo
Har-ha...you don't know what to do with Poserz!!! Ever watch Satuday Morning cartoons? Well there you go, you were right, you make movies, otherwise known as animations! Our main python man, ockham the wonderful, was right to, stills are a very big thing! These are great for a good printer! EvoShandor has it right also. Allthough it should be pointed out that only the Environment Creating Vue simply imports an entire .PZ3 poser scene file save! The others require plugins! You know Poser is a Charater Renderer, and I mentioned Environment Creators to you, but there is another renderer, The Modeler! These are for getting right down to shaping single vertexs and polygons, for making props or anything else really! EvoShandor also mention 3DStudioMax, Lightwave, and Maya(...Whatever.) Well the whatever part is right! Those modelres are thousands of dollars, and really only used for hollywood productions where you spent even more money on just hardware! Year to year and dollar for dollar the old Metacreations(A company) line up of renderers are the best. This includes Poser, Bryce(Environment), and Carrara(Modeler.) Vue is also in this family somehow too! One interesting thing to do with poser is File>Import>AVI background. This will add Frames to your scene, and give you referance points to add Key Frames!
What do you do with it? What do you do with a word processor? I render images, a few, (12 at the last count :) animate with it, some export to other packages, (Bryce seems popular) Out in the real world it sems to be used mostly for graphic illustration, (especially in science magazine, for some reason :) It's a cool toy, go play! later jb

Ok, I got Poser 5. After looking at things in Poser, I was woundering, what can you do with these charactors outside Poser? What do you do with what you created? Do you export them into something else, make some sort of "movie", what? Im asking because it seems like alot to learn if I don't know what to do next.
